Maymont Mansion Self Guided Tour

Step into the Gilded Age and explore the well-preserved Maymont Mansion at your own pace, with an optional narrated audio tour included. 

Discover rooms filled with fine art, decorative objects and furnishings collected by James and Sallie Dooley during their world travels. Explore the formal rooms of the main floor, where the Dooleys hosted elaborate dinners and soirées, then climb the stairs beside the Tiffany stained-glass window to visit the family’s private spaces, including the Swan Bedroom and Morning Room. 

Continue belowstairs to “In Domestic Service,” an exhibition in restored period rooms that explores the daily lives and work of the Dooleys’ domestic staff, most of whom were African American. Through furnishings, interpretation and the audio guide, learn more about the relationships between server and served, working class and upper class during the Jim Crow era. 

Tour Details 

• Tours are available during regular Maymont Mansion hours, with timed entry every 30 minutes. Please allow approximately 60 minutes to complete your visit.
• Please arrive during your selected entry window. Your ticket provides admission to Maymont Mansion and access to the self-guided audio tour. 
• Tickets $12 per person and are free for Maymont members and Museums for All participants (present an EBT card to book in person at the Stone Barn Welcome Center or The Robins Nature Center). 
• Maymont Mansion has a capacity of 30 guests per half-hour entry window. If you receive an error stating that the number of tickets exceeds the amount available, your selected time may be sold out. Please select another available time and try again. 

Groups 

Groups, clubs and organizations of 10 or more guests should contact registrar@maymont.org to arrange a private tour. 

Accessibility 

Maymont Mansion is a historic structure and is not wheelchair accessible. The experience includes multiple floors connected by stairs. Please contact Maymont in advance with accessibility questions.
