Family Treasures, Hidden Values

Garden Hall (1700 Hampton Street)

Date: Saturday, October 4                          Time: 10am-5pm

Curious about how to care for a treasured antique, and what its current value is? Bring it to Maymont and discover the historic context of your family treasures — from paintings and rugs to silver and china — in consultation with professionals from Jeff Evans Appraisals, the Virginia Conservation Association and Maymont’s Historic Resources staff.

Reserve a spot within a half-hour time slot, in which you will have a brief meeting with a professional appraiser for a verbal appraisal. Each registration is based one object per consultation. If you have multiple items, please register for multiple time slots.

Items must be easily portable from the parking area to the Garden Hall — no large furniture, and no gemstones or furs, please. The appraisers will offer verbal appraisals for educational purposes, not written appraisals.

Conservation specialists and Maymont Historic Resources staff will be available before or after the appraisal to discuss proper care and conservation of your antiques. A local coffee truck will be on site offering light food and beverage options. Outdoor picnic areas will be available throughout the day.

The event takes place rain or shine. All proceeds help Maymont care for its historic and natural collections, and keep the grounds open to the public year-round.
