Discover the stories behind Maymont’s historic buildings, gardens and landscape during a guided walking tour of the grounds. 

Led by a Maymont historic interpreter, this 90-minute tour explores the original estate buildings, Italian Garden, Japanese Garden and surrounding landscape. Learn what Maymont looked like before it became a public park, why the property has two waterfalls and how its historic features worked together as part of James and Sallie Dooley’s home. 

Tour Details 

• 90-minute guided outdoor walking tour 

• Meet your guide at the Stone Barn Welcome Center. 

• The tour includes historic buildings, gardens and landscape features throughout the grounds. 

• Capacity is limited to 20 guests per tour. Advance registration is recommended. 

• Comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.

Additional Information 

This is an outdoor walking tour covering multiple areas of Maymont’s grounds. The route may include hills, stairs, historic pathways and uneven surfaces. Please contact Maymont in advance with accessibility questions.
