Go behind the scenes with Breakfast with the Bears. In a new educational space located by the habitat, a Maymont staff member will provide an overview of the bears’ behaviors, natural history and unique adaptations to our environment.

Observe Big Bear or Little Bear up close, from a safe distance, as the bear enjoys an enrichment treat in his natural habitat, which is built around a former quarry. Each 30-minute program includes a Q&A session and a photo op. (Please note, breakfast for humans is not included!)

These programs are offered Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30am and must be reserved in advance. Check in at the Maymont Farm entrance (by the three large signs) by 10:15am. A guide will lead the group to the bears’ habitat, about a half-mile on foot. 

Please note: The gates to the Maymont Farm parking lot do not open until 10:00am.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes and sun or rain protection and bring a water bottle. The program will take place rain or shine but may be canceled for severe weather. Most of the path is wheelchair-accessible, but the terrain is hilly and there are rough patches. Capacity is limited to 15 people. Children must be at least 4 years of age, and accompanied by a parent or guardian.
